Why and how do I validate my account with my SIM card?

To comply with legal obligations set by ARCEP (the French telecoms regulator), Onoff is required to verify its users' identity. Since we don't provide a physical SIM card, the law requires us to link your Onoff account to your "native" personal phone number before allowing you to make calls.

How to validate your number:
The app simply needs to trigger an automatic verification call from your regular SIM card. For this to work, follow these steps:

1. Check your phone's settings (Requirements)
Show your number: Go to your phone's call settings and make sure the "Hide my number" (or Anonymous call) option is turned off.

Dual-SIM phones: If you have two SIM cards, check in your phone's settings that the SIM linked to the number you registered with Onoff is set as the default SIM for calls.

Permissions: Make sure you granted Onoff the necessary permissions (access to phone and contacts) during installation.

2. Start the validation
Open your Onoff app and try to make a call. The app will guide you and automatically place the validation call over your regular mobile network to authenticate your line.

If validation still fails after these checks, we recommend uninstalling and reinstalling the Onoff app to restart the process from scratch.
