Do I need an internet connection to make a call?

Yes.

All calls need to link up with our servers for a split second to make the connection between your virtual number and your contact.

Note that the "Answer over Wi-Fi / Data" option is enabled by default, which means that incoming calls will be answered over the Internet. You can change it in the App's Settings.
